Ferrari technical director James Allison, who like Raikkonen joins from Lotus this year, said he believed reliability would be absolutely fundamental in this year's world championship, and more important than aerodynamic or engine performance, A raft of technical changes introduced for the 2014 season sees teams racing with, to the untrained eye at least, similar looking cars but vastly-changed setups, most notably using smaller 1.6-liter V6 Turbo engines compared to the 2.4-liter V8 engines used last year.


Hybrids were once considered the painfully slow and socially responsible tortoises of the highway. Now, even revered sports cars brands are prepping irresponsibly powerful, lethally fast, porpoise sleek hybrids. As with Porsche's 918 Spyder and McLaren's P1, Ferrari's Enzo successor runs on a complex blend of electricity and internal combustion.
